Pink sheet stocks are stocks listed in places such as OTC markets and are not subject to financial reporting standards and are not required to do financial reporting with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In the past, the price quotation for such stocks was printed on pink paper slips, which is how they came to be known as pink-sheet stocks. While Pink sheet stocks are OTC, they are not OTCBB, Over-the-Counter-Bulletin Board. Generally they are high risk stocks that may have large bid-ask spreads. Pink sheet stocks are prefixed with PK and generally are penny stocks.
